KALAKENDRA : Promoting Classical music and dance
Music and Dance are the biggest stress-busters in today’s world. With a fast-paced lifestyle, grown-ups can find learning a musical instrument or learning a new dance form to be extremely soothing.
At the same time, young Indians are growing up without an appreciation of India’s rich heritage, especially its dance and music forms. At Kalakendra, our endeavour is to create a world where there is emotional support available to an individual in soothing melodies of music and dance. The expressive nature of Indian classical dance form is an example of releasing the energy within self in order to relieve the stress accumulated inside.
We strive to provide professional music and dance training using audio-visual aids, qualified teachers and regular assessments. This allows the student to focus on generating a genuine interest in classical and traditional forms of music and dance.
The institute is run under the able guidance of Vidushi Ratna Lahiri, a post-graduate in Instrumental Music and a performing sitarist. She is also the recipient of Rashtriya Manav Ratna Samman 2010 for her outstanding work in promoting the cause of Indian culture and arts.
She has also been part of the 1000 sitarists performing together in BRAHMNAAD organized by Art of Living Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji. She is today one of the most sought-after instructor for Indian classical music in Delhi.
